The Peninsula Health & Wellbeing recognises that guests staying in our hotel with the finest amenities increasingly seek to relax and rejuvenate mind and body and escape from modern living. To support the Peninsula Health & Wellbeing, The Peninsula Bangkok is introduced a comprehensive retreat programme that is designed to offer guests a sense of tranquillity and harmony of body and mind. The holistic approach is based on four elements: a healthy dining choice, an exercise programme, sleep and mindfulness.
1. Exercise
The exercise programme builds on the success of The Peninsula Bangkok’s weekly activities, combining sunrise yoga beside the river with contemplative reflection at the Gong Wu Shrine by the Chao Phraya River. A range of activities guests can participate in are offered, such as various disciplines of yoga, Pilates, aerobics, aquatics, HIIT, stretching and Muay Thai boxing, and all classes are conducted by certified trainers and are all complimentary for in-house guests.
2. Mindfulness
Many thoughtful activities to nourish guests’ minds are also provided, from meditation to planting and Arts & Culture.
Mindfulness. Guests can attend mindfulness breathing sessions and learn proper breathing techniques with our certified instructor and reward your body.
Essential mind treatment. Custom design for the Peninsula spa At The Peninsula Bangkok with the help of Dr. Buaton Thienarrom, founder of the Sukkasart Institute of Healing Arts in Hua Hin – ‘The Essential Mind’ holistic spa programme at THB 5900++ offers authentic therapeutic brought from Tibet, such as the unique Tibetian vibrational thinking bowl. Couple with bespoke blend of essential oils, as well as a rejuvenating massage session the 90-minute ‘The Essential Mind’ aims to cater to the three important elements of your health - mind body and spirit - and help you achieve profound levels of relaxation.
Using action Thai techniques, the massage treatment is divided into three sessions. For starters, you are an expert therapist will massage a fragrant blend of basil and peppermint oil on to upper back with gentle pressing, which will eat away muscle stiffness. This is then followed by rolling and circular movement with the application of kaffir lime and jasmine oil extracts. Lastly, with a warm mix of cinnamon and clove oil the therapist will stimulate your backs Meridien lines and pressure points, or to help you elevate pain and muscle tension.
Herb and Spices Appreciation Class. Thailand is revered as a land of flavours, and this inspiring tour of the Naturally Peninsula Garden unlocks the secrets of traditional Thai cuisine through its aromatic spices and herbs. Each Thursday at 4:00 pm, this class is perfect for family guests seeking insights into the medicinal powers of Thai herbs. Afterwards, guests enjoy a Thai herb salad tasting hosted by the hotel’s expert chefs.
Culture. Discover our local way of life, Tak Bart, an ancient Thai ritual of gifting food parcels to Buddhist monks every morning. Or learn how to create your own beautiful plant arrangement. The class includes instruction on techniques for selecting succulents, and planting and arranging them, as well as best practices for keeping the arrangement vibrant and healthy.
Art. Appreciation of Arts is another mind-opening new perspective. The Peninsula Bangkok has been committed to promoting the rich and vibrant cultural aspects of the destination city in which it resides, hosting local artists as part of its ‘Artist in Residence’ programme, which is designed to support emerging artists, while also providing guests with access to culturally representative art pieces. Our current artist is Ms. Onnalin Lojanagosin. The artist brings her painting out of the art studio and do a live painting on the hidden spot of the hotel as well as capturing soul of Chao Phraya River. Guests are invited to interact at the painting spots.
3. Healthy Dining Choice
Healthful eating and maintaining a tasteful balance are essential lifestyle ingredients for staying happy. Our artful, delicious and award-winning restaurants across the hotel offer healthy dining options.
Plant-based journey. As a pioneering in committing to offering healthy and sustainable dining choices for our guests, The Peninsula Bangkok, in an ongoing effort, is continuing to offer a plant-based menu, which it introduced across all restaurants. Recently launched is Mei Jiang Exclusive, an experiential dining nine-course plant-based Chinese-inspired menu and also a plant-based afternoon tea. In addition, guests can also attend our sourdough-making class as part of our resort experience.
Healthy breakfast. The Peninsula Bangkok’s team has spent a great amount of time in developing and enhancing our breakfast offer to our guests. We introduced a healthy corner in our breakfast buffet line, where we offer almond milk quinoa yogurt, chocolate coconut yogurt and soymilk yogurt, with a variety of granola and superfood powder; kale, spirulina, turmeric, wheatgrass, matcha and Baobab (available in May 2021) and a gluten-free menu. Healthy beverages. A special healthy cold-pressed-juice corner has been introduced for our breakfast and also in all restaurants’ menus, with benefits that include anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and more. Homemade kombucha and a healthy tonic have also been recently launched at our restaurants. In addition, guests can attend a kombucha or tonic-making class on a daily basis. The hotel offers not only healthy dining options but also a coffee culture for guests who might be practising intermittent fasting, allowing them to enjoy our 14-hr cold-brew drip coffee and a variety of black coffee so they do not feel they are missing out on breakfast. At our River bar, guest can also choose an option for non-alcoholic wines and cocktails.
