“REWIND TO 00:54”
Inspired by the late 70s, specifically the era of Studio 54, AZZI & OSTA Fall-Winter 19/20 collection celebrates femininity, freedom, and individuality.
The collection entitled “Rewind to 00:54” reminds us of the Super scene, where lights were bright, rooms were crowded, and glitter was everywhere. Celebrities rubbed shoulders with each other, and everyone danced the night away – the outside world nonexistent.
The disco age brought with it a sense of deliverance, glamour, and liberation for fashion expressions, which AZZI & OSTA translated into their FW 19/20 RTW collection.
With the brand signature DNA being fabric manipulation and structured volumes, the designers chose to elaborate their volumes into swirly ruffles and peplums for dance moves. A faux fur long coat adds extra glam vibe to the collection and voices the brand’s values against using animal skin.
Inspired by the Studio extravagant event invitations, the designers selected a single motif from the ‘78 Valentine Party” invitation and embroidered it on a silver bomber jacket.
The collection featured eclectic fabrics like wire Lurex, sparkle jacquard, leopard print, disco faux fur, confetti embroidery, multicolored abstract leopard embroidery, tulle, Volante, and the brand’s favorites: crepe and double satin.
For the colors, the designers picked an intense psychedelic palette, inspired by the Studio 54 scenes and hallways: Pink Icing, Martini Olive, Golden Lime, Lipstick red, Stardust white and Night black, along with glittery and sparkly fabrics as well as iridescent multicolored embroidery.
With an omnipresent cotemporary touch, the statement looks that can be distinctively related to that era revolve around exaggerated capes, sexy high slits, dancing skirts, flared pant jumpsuits, oversized sleeves, and effortless shirtdresses.
“It was a thrilling journey in time through photos, articles and music, to the golden age of Studio 54, this fortress of glam at a time where social media and cell phones didn’t even exist, at an era when life was simple and carefree” says duo designers AZZI & OSTA.
